Acne occurs when tiny holes on the surface of the pores of the skin called clog. Each pore is an opening to a canal called follicle, which contains a hair and a sebaceous gland. Normally, the sebaceous glands help keep the skin lubricated and help remove dead cells. When glands produce too much oil, pores are blocked, are accumulating dirt, debris and bacteria. The blockage is called a plug or comedones.
